Next on your list of “just have to have” CD’s is Frosty the Bluesman by local guitarist, Michael Powers. Although some of the tracks are in more of his traditional jazz style, there are a few that represent the blues genre quite well, including the title track, “Frosty the Bluesman”. Another favorite on this CD is Michael’s somewhat Jamaican version of “We Three Kings” — nice guitar work, almost creating a sunny, tropical feel. (We can handle that here in the Northwest, can’t we?!) ………….The result? Excellent! The man’s got talent. This CD is a must for your Holiday collection.
JET CITY BLUES REVIEW

Each Christmas I search for an album that crosses different musical genres. Frosty
the Bluesman caught my attention because of the bluesy, soul, jazzy and gritty style
of Powers’ guitar. I was pleasantly surprised by this album. Powers combines African,
blues, urban and jazz roots to give these songs a bluesman’s perspective.
